Code of Conduct
At Mouse Mountain Elementary School we strive to develop a sense of personal and social responsibility within a safe, respectful, and caring environment. The code of conduct applies at school and on buses.
At Mouse Mountain it is expected that students will:
- Be aware of and follow school rules.
- Make choices that keep yourself and others safe.
- Keep ‘hands to self’ and listen to the adults.
- Respect other students and adults.
- Give your best effort during school activities.
- Treat the school building, school buses and school equipment with care.
- Respect the belongings of other students and adults: do not take things without permission.
- Respect the diversity of our school community and the BC Human Rights Code which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of: race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, gender identification/expression, sexual orientation or sexual orientation as perceived by others.
Rising Expectations/ Proactive Measures
- Consequences and reminders may be modified to suit the age of students.
- Some students may be provided with additional support and supervision to help them meet the expectations.
- Proactive measures are used to promote positive behaviour and self-regulation for all students. This includes teaching expected behaviors, teaching social-emotional programs (WITS, SNAP, Zones of Regulation) and using common language in the school. Students have access to our self-regulation room, sensory pathway/movement breaks/noise cancelling headphones, etc.
Student Person Digital Devices
- Personal devices must be powered off and safely stored during the entire school day from the time students arrive on school grounds until the time they leave school grounds. This extends to instructional time while off school property (e.g. field trips).
- Personal digital devices may only used during the school day for instructional purposes and to promote digital literacy, and only with the permission and direct supervision of a teacher or other staff member.
Notification
- Parents/guardians are notified for any serious behavior (hands-on etc.)
- Parents/guardians will be notified if students bring personal digital devices to school and do not follow the above expectations.
School supervisor or Superintendent will be notified in case of suspension or if parents/guardians are not satisfied with resolution.
